Winter weather advisory goes into effect tonight in Kane County

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for several counties, including Kane, that will go into effect at 11 p.m. Wednesday. The advisory will be in effect until 2 p.m. Thursday.

The advisory warns that people should "plan on slippery road conditions … including during the morning commute on Thursday."

According to the advisory, snow is expected to develop late Wednesday night and diminish by Thursday afternoon. Snow accumulations of 2 to 3 inches will be expected, but accumulations could reach 4 inches in some locations.

The advisory adds that drivers should be "prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibility … and use caution when driving."

The local forecast indicates that a snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches can be expected at night, with another inch of accumulation possible on Thursday morning. It calls for a high of 33 degrees and a low of 17.
