Severe thunderstorm watch in effect

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 3 a.m. for Kane County, according to the National Weather Service.

A hazardous weather outlook warns of "thunderstorms … some of which may be severe." It notes there could be "hail to the size of half-dollars" and "isolated wind gusts in excess of 60 mph," as well as "a tornado or two." The outlook covers several counties, such as Kane, McHenry, Will, Ford, DeKalb, Boone and Kendall.

According to the forecast, storms are expected before 1 a.m. On Wednesday, it is expected to be "very windy," the forecast states.
