Two teens injured in ‘severe’ single-vehicle crash near Campton Hills

CAMPTON TOWNSHIP – Emergency crews were called to the scene of a crash about 4:45 p.m. Sept. 21 at McDonald Road and Phar Lap Drive in Campton Township, according to a news release from the South Elgin and Countryside Fire Protection District.

South Elgin assistant fire chief Burt Lancaster described the single-vehicle crash as “very severe.”

“It was car versus tree,” Lancaster said. “We arrived to find the driver outside the vehicle and a passenger trapped inside.”

Lancaster said the victims are teens, but he could not confirm their age.

“They’re of driving age,” he said.

Due to the extent of damage, a helicopter was requested to the scene. The driver was transported to Presence Saint Joseph hospital in Elgin while the trapped passenger was airlifted to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, the release stated.

Lancaster said he has not received an update on their medical status. Campton Hills police are investigating the crash, but could not immediately be reached for comment.
