ELGIN — Kane County Sheriff's deputies think the early Nov. 9 morning burglary of an Elgin lawn equipment store is connected to two earlier lawn equipment store burglaries in Campton Hills and Elburn.
Deputies responded just before 4 a.m. Nov. 9 to an alarm at Ralph Helm Inc. Lawn Equipment Center, 36W710 Foothill Dr. in Elgin Township, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
When deputies arrived, they found a broken window and determined four chain saws and two backpack-style weed blowers were stolen.
The approximate value of the stolen equipment is $2,000.
Deputies believe that this burglary is related to burglaries that took place earlier Nov. 9 in Campton Hills and Elburn. The other businesses burglarized also sell small lawn maintenance equipment.
The sheriff's office continues to investigate the Elgin-area incident.
Anyone who might have information related to the Ralph Helm burglary is asked to call the sheriff's office at 630-444-1103.
"We are also asking for area businesses, who may sell similar products, to check any surveillance cameras they have for any recent incidents of suspicious vehicles near their businesses," the release stated.
