St. Charles resident Ted McLaughlin, 65, was at St. Charles Bowl when he answered questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.

Schory: Where did you grow up?

McLaughlin: In the Fox Valley

Schory: Do you have any pets?

McLaughlin: A German shepherd named Looty

Schory: Who would play you in the movie of your life?
McLaughlin: Philip Seymour Hoffman

McLaughlin: Delivering newspapers

Schory: As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

McLaughlin: I wanted to become an astronaut, but I became a roofer. I own Ace Roofing Services and just got a 25-year member award from the St. Charles Chamber.

Schory: Favorite charity?

McLaughlin: Lutheran Social Services of Illinois and my church, Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Charles

Schory: Favorite local restaurant?

McLaughlin: Salerno’s in St. Charles

Schory: What is an interesting fact about yourself?

McLaughlin: I have saved three people from drowning, and I was a world traveler by the time I was 25.
