Fox Valley locals to perform at Indian Valley Theatre

Presentations of 'On Golden Pond' to take place in March

The Indian Valley Theatre is preparing for its production of “On Golden Pond,” in March.

Directed by Matthew Johnson and written by Ernest Thompson, with rights by Dramatist Play Service Inc., IVT’s “On Golden Pond” will feature cast members from the Fox Valley area, including R. Scott Purdy from St. Charles as “Norm,” Autumn Burns from Geneva as “Ethel,” and Morgan Miller from Elburn as “Billi.”

“On Golden Pond” is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the 48th year.

They are visited by their divorced, middle-aged daughter, Chelsea, and her dentist fiance, Bill, who then go off to Europe, leaving his teenage daughter, Billi, behind for the summer.

The girl quickly becomes the “grandchild” the elderly couple have longed for.

In the end, as the summer wanes, so does their brief idyll, and in the final, deeply moving moments of the play, Norman and Ethel are brought even closer together by the incidence of a mild heart attack. Time, they know, is now against them, but the years have been good and, perhaps, another summer on Golden Pond still awaits.

“On Golden Pond” will be performed for two weekends: at 7:30 p.m. March 2 and March 3 and at 2 p.m. March 4, and at 7:30 p.m. March 9 and March 10 and at 2 p.m. March 11.

All performances will take place at the Historic Sandwich Opera House, 140 E Railroad St., Sandwich.

Tickets are $15 in advance and can be purchased online at www.indianvalleytheatre.com. Tickets are $18 at the door, if seats are available, up to 30 minutes before showtime.
