Tea class highlights black tea in Geneva

Learn about tea at LDH Harmony Style in Geneva

GENEVA – LDH Harmony Style, at 407 S. Third St., Geneva, will host a program called Tea 101 – Black Tea with Rachel R. Carter from 1 to 2 p.m. March 10.

“This year we started incorporating organic teas into the store and diving a lot more into the physical health side of life,” store owner Juan Bustelo stated in an email. “We are doing the first of a series of tea classes at the store.”

Tickets are $20 if purchased online by visiting or $25 at the door.

The class will cover three black teas from different parts of the world and include a tea blend with a black tea base.

It includes how black tea is produced, how to prepare tea, the proper way to taste it and how its taste is based on its territory and how it is processed, according to Carter’s class description.

Tea tastings are included.

Carter is known as a tea consultant, educator, blender and blogger for – as well as a personal friend to Bustelo.

“After following a balanced lifestyle and meeting so many people through this and sharing so much, I finally came to the desire of having a healthier body as well,” Bustelo stated in an email.

“I find that tea is a great substitute for any of the cravings we fall into through the day,” Bustelo’s email stated. “And also [it] can give you a moment of meditation when you prepare it, from heating the water, to the amount of [leaves] you will use and also the time of the day or night.”

Bustelo’s email stated that with so many types of tea, he found it a little overwhelming when one becomes serious about drinking tea. He credited Carter with guiding him into the first steps into serious tea drinking.

“So after these first steps, I decided to start offering the tea at the store – but something was missing,” Buste’s email stated. "For the people to understand the teas we have and why. So the class is a great way to help people to understand this world and start their way into organic teas.”
