Elgin man killed in Campton Hills crash

Man dies after being thrown in accident

CAMPTON HILLS – An Elgin man was killed in a one-car crash at approximately 6:28 a.m. May 12 at Route 47 and McDonald Road in Campton Hills, police stated in a news release.

Efrain Lara, 37, was driving south on Route 47 when the vehicle left the roadway, hit a ditch which caused it to flip and roll over, the release stated.

Lara, who was not wearing a safety belt, was thrown from the vehicle, the release stated.

Pingree Grove paramedics transported Lara to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin where he was pronounced deceased at 7:24 a.m., the release stated.

It does not appear that alcohol was involved in the accident, the release stated.

Notification was made to his immediate family, the release stated.
