Do you need a recommendation to find out where you should go for dinner? What about where to get your car fixed? What about the best place to get garden essentials? Which I may need to visit as those bright, beautiful blooms I had growing seem to have suddenly died off.
How do you go about finding where you want to do business? As for me, I don’t trust Yelp, Google or Facebook reviews. What I do trust is other people in the community where I live. People trust people and people do business with people, not faceless tech conglomerates. That’s why the Best of the Fox is amazing to me, as it lets the local community have a strong voice in deciding who will be recognized for their services and products.
And that’s part of what makes this edition of the Kane County Chronicle, Elburn Herald and Sugar Grove Herald so special. It contains a lot of big reveals about which businesses have the prestige of being named the best of the best or one of the best.
And may I add that a lot of you really care about this because more than 56,000 votes were recorded between March 22 and April 22. To put that number into perspective, that’s more than the populations of Geneva (21,880 as of 2016) and St. Charles (32,717 as of 2016) combined.
Seems to me like a lot of people truly care about their favorite places of business. I know I do as well. And I’m happy to see some of my favorites make the list and get the recognition they’ve earned and so rightfully deserve.
So be sure to check out the special Best of the Fox insert in this week’s paper. Maybe your hometown favorite is recognized, or you’ll find a new place to try out. After all, they are the best. The readers even said so.
