ST. CHARLES – State Sen. Karen McConnaughay, R-St. Charles, will not seek re-election to a third term in November, and is likely to resign before her current term ends to pursue other opportunities, according to media reports.

Representing the 33rd District, she is in leadership as the Republican minority whip. Prior to her election to the Illinois State Senate, McConnaughay chaired the Kane County Board from 2004-12. The story is developing, with more details to follow.
