MAPLE PARK – An 18-year-old St. Charles teen was charged with driving 107 mph, nearly double the speed limit, according to Kane County Sheriff’s reports.
Brandon D. Schwarz, 18, of the 2400 block of Majestic Oaks Lane, St. Charles, was charged July 23 with driving more than 35 mph over the posted speed limit of 55, reports stated.
A sheriff’s deputy, who was traveling south on Peplow Road near Ramm Road in Maple Park about 9:30 p.m. when he clocked Schwarz’s 2018 white Chevrolet Camero traveling 108 mph going north, reports stated.
According to court records, in 2016, Schwarz was charged with driving 26 to 34 mph above the speed limit.
Schwarz was driving a 2009 Pontiac at 11 p.m. in the 1500 block of North Kirk Road in St. Charles when he was stopped by police, court records show.
According to the ticket, Schwarz was driving 72 mphin a 45-mph zone.
Schwarz pleaded guilty, but the charge was amended to a lesser offense of driving 21 to 25 miles an hour over the speed limit, taking into account that Schwarz attended traffic safety school, was under supervision for six months and paid a $500 fine, court records show.
Schwarz successfully completed his six-month supervision on April 4, 2017, court records show.
Court records on the new speeding charges against Schwarz were not available July 27.
