Face Time with Jay Davis

Get to know North Aurora resident

North Aurora resident Jay Davis, 48, was at the Batavia VFW Post 1197, where he is commander, when he answered questions from the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.

Schory: Where did you grow up?

Davis: Burnsville, a suburb of Minneapolis in Minnesota

Schory: Who would play you in the movie of your life?

Davis: Bill Murray

Schory: First job?

Davis: Paperboy

Schory: As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Davis: A soldier and kind of landed where I wanted to be. I served on the Iron Curtain – the border between East and West Germany with the 11th Armored Calvary. I also served in the Persian Gulf. I was discharged from active duty in 1992 and now I am a regional sales manager for LG.

Schory: Book or movie you would recommend?

Davis: The Hieronymus Bosch series by Michael Connelly.

Schory: Favorite charity?

Davis: The Batavia VFW and the VFW National Home for Children

Schory: Favorite local restaurant?

Davis: Gillerson’s Grubbery in North Aurora

Schory: What is an interesting fact about yourself?

Davis: In English class when I was 14, they made us write a letter to our adult self and they mailed it 20 years later. I got the letter, “Hopefully by now, you’re driving around in a Mustang convertible, driving around having a good time.” Now I bought a Mustang convertible.
