STICKNEY – A seventh annual antiques appraisal event will feature author and antiques expert Mark Moran from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 31 at the Stickney-Forest View Public Library.

All items to be appraised must be registered in advance of the free event. To register, visit the library help desk or call 708-749-1050, ext. 120. Spectators also are asked to register.

While in the area, Moran is available to make appraisal visits at people’s homes; to arrange a visit, call 715-281-5060 or email moranm1953@gmail.com. One also may email Moran in advance to determine if objects fall into his range of expertise.

Formerly senior editor of antiques and collectibles books for Krause Publications in Iola, Wisconsin, Moran has been a contributing editor for Antique Trader magazine among his many credits in the field. He is the author or co-author of more than 25 books, including three editions of the 800-page annual “Warman’s Antiques & Collectibles.”

Moran bought and sold antiques for more than 30 years, specializing in vintage folk art, Americana and fine art. He has been active as an appraiser of antiques and fine art for more than 20 years.

Excluded items are all weapons, including swords and knives (although folding knives with advertising are accepted); traps (such as leg-hold); Nazi memorabilia; coins and paper money; fine jewelry, including precious gems; and Beanie Babies.

The library is at 6800 W. 43rd St. in Stickney. For information, visit MarkFMoran.com.
