Every year, several local publications give residents, from Geneva and nearby communities, the opportunity to vote for their favorites in over 50 categories. Favorite ice cream shop, favorite dry cleaners, favorite festival etc. Geneva was fortunate enough to receive accolades, by achieving high standards in several categories. Often the results are published, but many are unaware of the winners.
So you can recognize that you are truly living in a special place, here is a recap of how Geneva and Geneva Chamber of Commerce Festivals performed:
Geneva was selected as a leader in Best Downtown Atmosphere and Best Town You’d Want to Live In (other than your own).
Swedish Days Festival supported by Northwestern Medicine was voted one of the best festivals in the area, Geneva Arts Fair presented by Little Red Barn Door was not only voted a BEST Art Fair, but artfaircalendar.com named it as #6 in the country and Festival of the Vine received a Best Festival nod. And all this is just steps away from your own backyard.
Frequently, when results are published, our local businesses are mentioned in top spots. Besides, tantalizing food and unique items, the customer service in our restaurants & shops are unequaled.
The Geneva Chamber has presented three successful festivals, (one more to go) and judging by the above results, others agreed. Each festival has a different feel, and we think each has something everyone can appreciate, whether you are a resident or a visitor. I know when I am out walking; friendliness only begins to describe the people that pass me.
There are 49 other states we could live in and thousands of cities to choose from, but we just don’t think anything else could quite measure up to what we have here.
Neighboring communities now know what us Genevans have known for years – Geneva ROCKS!
Sinatra’s words in “My Kind of Town” may say Chicago, but I believe if he had visited Geneva, those lyrics may have been different and Geneva most certainly would have been his kind of town.
If Geneva is YOUR kind of town, here is an opportunity to make a difference. You may have noticed a new addition to the Kane County Courthouse front lawn. With the assistance of Wasco Nursery & Garden Center, City of Geneva and the County of Kane the Chamber planted a new Christmas tree. Its predecessor had been damaged due to weather and had to be removed.
While we have received several generous contributions, we are still accepting donations. If you would like to be part of something "tree-mendous" that will make residents and visitors of all ages smile for decades, call 630-232-6060.
