St. Charles to continue discussion on recreational marijuana sales

Public hearing continued to Oct. 8

The St. Charles Plan Commission will meet again on Oct. 8 regarding whether to allow the sale of recreational marijuana.
A public hearing regarding zoning for recreational cannabis sales in St. Charles was held Sept. 17 by the Plan Commission. The Plan Commission received testimony from the public and continued the hearing to 7 p.m. Oct. 8 in the City Council Chambers, 2 E. Main Street.

ST. CHARLES – The St. Charles Plan Commission will meet again on Oct. 8 regarding whether to allow the sale of recreational marijuana.

A public hearing regarding zoning for recreational cannabis sales in St. Charles was held Sept. 17 by the Plan Commission. The Plan Commission received testimony from the public and continued the hearing to 7 p.m. Oct. 8 in the City Council Chambers, 2 E. Main Street.

Aldermen voted 6-3 at the Aug. 19 Government Operations Committee meeting to direct city staff to begin the process of amending the city’s zoning ordinance to allow two recreational sales facilities: one on the east side of St. Charles and one on the west side.

The Plan Commission is a recommending body. Any recommendations from the Plan Commission will be considered at a future meeting of the Planning and Development Committee of the City Council.

Upon recommendation from Planning and Development Committee, the City Council will make a final decision. Official agendas are posted on the city of St. Charles website, stcharlesil.gov 48 hours prior to a meeting.
