October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which highlights an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease and to help those affected by it through education, early detection, and support services. Breast cancer, the second most common cancer among American women, kills over 40,000 each year, and about 1 in 8 women born today will have it at some point. Of the nearly 250,000 women who are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, about 10% are younger than age 45.
FoxFire Restaurant will host a special "Ladies Night", a Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser, with proceeds from the event to be donated to Patty's Pals in Bartlett, a local Breast Cancer Foundation. It will evenly distribute the total donation to support clinical research, support services, and nurse navigation in the fight against this dreadful disease. "In our first three years, we raised nearly $9,000," said Samantha Donovan, Event Coordinator for FoxFire. "Ladies Night is for the entire community, and all ages are invited. The past two years we were completely booked for dinner, so reservations are recommended."
Ladies Night is Tuesday, October 23rd, from 6:00 - 9:00 pm at FoxFire. "We have various vendors to help make this a memorable and successful event," added Donovan. "OS2 Salon will offer pink hair extensions for $10, and Artbar 39 will provide wine glasses for purchase that attendees can paint on site. We'll also offer specialty entrees and cocktails for our guests."
A silent auction and raffles will add to the fun, and a portion of alcohol sales will be donated. "Penrose Brewing will offer complimentary tastings, Montage Salon will give complimentary makeovers, and The Davenport Project will provide live music," said Donovan. "They cover 80's and 90's classic rock. Guests don't have to come for dinner; they can sit at the bar and enjoy appetizers, cocktails, and musical entertainment."
