Face Time with Chris Bert

Get to know Geneva resident

Geneva resident Chris Bert was at the Geneva Women’s Club bunco fundraiser at Eagle Brook Country Club when she answered questions from the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.

Schory: Where did you grow up?

Bert: South Side of Chicago

Schory: Do you have any pets?

Bert: My dog Maddie, a 12-year-old chocolate lab, just passed away.

Schory: Who would play you in the movie of your life?

Bert: Meryl Streep

Schory: First job?

Bert: I was a cashier at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. My father was an electrician there and he would take me on the weekends. It was a phenomenal first job. You got to see lots of diversity, lots of people, lots of cultures, and you learn a lot. It was a great job.

Schory: As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Bert: I had three loves as a kid – teacher, social worker and nurse. I became a psychiatric nurse and a nurse instructor.

Schory: Favorite charity?

Bert: I support the core charities that the Geneva Women’s Club supports: CASA Kane County, Fox Valley Hands of Hope, Mutual Ground Inc., TriCity Family Services, Geneva District 304 and families and LivingWell Cancer Resource Center.

Schory: Favorite local restaurant?

Bert: Sergio’s Cantina and Villa Verone in Geneva

Schory: What is an interesting fact about yourself?

Bert: I won the first public health nursing award in Nebraska for developing policies for healthy child care.
