GENEVA – Aldermen recommended hiring a company to do leak detection of the municipal water system at the Committee of the Whole Monday.
The recommendation was for hiring M.E. Simpson Company Inc. of Valparasio, Ind. to do leak detection of the city’s entire water distribution system – 829,670 feet – over a three-year period.
The cost is nearly $31,000 per year for a total amount of just over $92,000, officials said.
The cost of the second and third years of the contract would have to be approved by the City Council.
Geneva and Batavia city staff published a joint request for proposals, received three and M.E. Simpson received the highest evaluations, records show.
